1. Project Background

Italy has a large coffee consumption market, generating significant volumes of spent coffee grounds every day from cafés, restaurants, and industrial coffee processors.
Disposal of this organic waste has become costly, while demand for renewable biomass fuel continues to grow.

The customer planned a waste-to-energy project to convert spent coffee grounds into high-density biomass pellets, creating additional revenue while reducing landfill waste.

2. Customer & Application Scenario

The customer is a biomass fuel producer in Italy, collecting coffee waste from local coffee chains and roasting plants.

Application scenario includes:

  • Recycling spent coffee grounds
  • Producing biomass pellets for heating and energy use
  • Commercial pellet sales to industrial and residential users

Raw material conditions:

  • Moisture content ≤ 20%
  • Particle size < 10 mm
3. Our Solution (Process Flow + Equipment Configuration)

We provided a complete pelletizing solution centered on a DR678 large-capacity coffee waste pellet press.

Process flow:
Material preparation → Screw conveying → Forced feeding → Ring die pelletizing → Cutting → Pellet cooling and storage

Main equipment configuration:

  • DR678 biomass pellet machine (200 kW)
  • PLC automatic control system
  • Timed forced feeder to prevent blockage
  • High-precision gear-driven transmission
  • Automatic lubrication system (no shutdown required)

If the customer lacks a full processing system, we also provide turnkey solutions, including drying and conveying systems.
